Thayer County edged out Ravenna in an absolute scrap of a game from McCool Junction this afternoon. Scoring occurred through the air as well as on the ground with 3-4 lead changes happening over the course of the game. In this man's opinion, it was one of the finest displays of 8-man youth football I've seen to date in our league. Physical, emotional, and full of fire. Hats off to everyone involved! 38--32 was the final. Congratulations to the 2022 FVYFL 8-man Champions, Thayer County. Congrats as well to Ravenna on a stellar inaugural season with Farmers Valley.
A big thank you also goes out to Brian Soukup and the entire McCool Junction youth football family. Without you guys, a neutral site championship game would not have been possible. Thanks for doing as much as you did on such short notice.
Watching today's game made me very proud of what our league has been able to accomplish. Not just with the Xs & Os, but with the fans that travel, the kids that play with such effort, and the support from the communities that house these youth organizations. I look to 2023 and beyond with excitement!
