The table is officially set for our championship contenders! Congratulations to Seward & Adams Central in 11-man and to Thayer County & Shelby-Rising City/Osceola in 8-man. We began in August with 29 hopeful squads and have whittled it down to just 4!
The 11-man game will take place on Sunday, October 19 at 2:30p at Raymond Central High School near Raymond, NE. Seward (5-0 overall, 4-0 conference) comes in undefeated and is making their first appearance in program history since joining the FVYFL in 2022. They have routinely competed with the rest in the Blue Conference, but have yet to reach the peak of the 11-man division. Adams Central (4-1, 4-0 conference) has more of a history with this event. With recent titles in 2021 & 2024, they are looking to add a third to the trophy case and second in just 2 seasons. The Patriots' lone loss on the campaign came in a week 1 bout with Aurora, losing 14-6 in overtime. This game will be either a statement for the Jr. Jays or an expectation for the Patriots.
The 8-man game will occur on Sunday, October 19 at 2:30p at Sutton High School in Sutton, NE. Thayer County (5-0, 4-0 conference) is also no stranger to the big stage. The Thunder are looking to snag their second title ever, having completed the first in 2022 in a 38--32 brawl with Ravenna. Shelby-Rising City/Osceola (5-0, 4-0 conference) is one of the tried and true programs around here. The Dawgs have hosted the annual event at their own turf (Shelby-Rising City High School) since the inception of the FVYFL's competitive 8-man scene. This week, they journey to Clay County to prove that they can punch just as hard when they travel to compete. The Dawgs are looking for their first ever FVYFL championship. This event will be livestreamed on Striv.tv via the Sutton Public Schools channel. Please use the following link at or near the start time for the game to tune in!
Both of these games pit "been there done that" teams against those who are striving for firsts. We truly hope that you, as patrons, can make it out to one of the venues and catch some great competition between our members. Thank you for making this season one to remember. Let's finish it on a high note!
Good luck to all this Sunday.
